Two-Headed Fool

By: Isabelle Morgan

When it is what it wasn’t

What it is

Is what you wanted

It feels how you felt

When you meant as you thought it

And sang just how you swallowed it

Just as you

It somehow sounds stupid

 when I say it

But, yes

I agree

I chase the same fucking thing

But I lost the bet

So, you get to make this one true

I can see what this means to you

I recognize the scent of exhausted exhaling

The rhythm of one foot

catching up to the other

But they taunt in two

I hear through a pair

Watch out of a couple

Breath you in double

Because a body functions in two

Is grown from two

Then expects the exact same from you

Assumes nothing less from me

When society prefers a “we”

But I still struggle knowing what “I” means

Do I need food?

Nicotine?

To pee or a drink?

Or even more confusing

A person to make me one of a two

So fucking shamefully broken

The world has to be
