Apple seed

By: Isabelle Morgan

I poured

And the earth

Kept sleeping

Nothing to stop

My downward seeping

Soaking the pure

Fading to brown

I streamed

Past a damn

I won’t be plugging

Let it dry

Shifting my pride

To allow for a drip

Because it’s

Rising from a gap

A hollowed heart

A cratered chest

Leaking because

You no longer fit

Will I ever get to see

The shape you have

Chosen to shift?

It doesn’t really matter

I will always leave

A you-sized gap

In case you ever want

to come back
